Last Inchy for July

Can you believe we are heading into August already? It's hot and I'd like some cooler autumn weather but I'l be 100 years old by the end of the year if time keeps going by this fast!

The theme on Inchybyinch blog this week is men. I don't have any stamps to use and didn't feel up to drawing one. I guess I could have reduced a photo to fit but what came to me is the man in the moon. And also, why is it we say we see a MAN in the moon? Why not a woman? Is it just easier to say man in the moon versus woman in the moon? Did you know the Japanese see a rabbit pounding sweet rice to a pulp instead of a man? Anyhow here is my offering.

The Birds and the Bees

We have a nest in one of our smallish trees with a dove family occupying it. I noticed it because our big dog Sarah of rattlesnake bite fame was trying to jump up high enough to get to it (and she got very close - I yelled at her and she's left it alone since). In the nest were two eggs and they have now hatched. My hatched pic isn't too great but I didn't want to bother them too much. You can still see the very new birds in it.

The bees, well I just wanted to have fun with the title but you can see them in the flower pic I've added.

Have a good day everyone.

Wish List

I've added a new button to my sidebar. A blogging pal is hoping to make an ebook with everyone in the whole world's wish lists. Her name is Fadwa and you can see her blog here. This is just a bit about what she is hoping for:

"I am hoping that The World’s Longest Wish List Ebook will end-up bursting with possibilities, hope and untamed imaginings, that it will circulate wildly all over the world, that it will continue to grow fatter and fatter, that it will spread warmth and humanity, and that it will confirm that we are all the same somehow."

I hope you'll think about it, take a visit to her blog and maybe add your list. You can copy the button picture and link it to her blog and perhaps by posting it on your sidebar or making a post, she will get her wish!

Weekly Inchy

The theme for this week's inchy is circles. Fiona of Inchybyinch used circles as the base for her inchy and I tried that but it didn't work for me so I went back to the square inch and stamped some circle designs. Then I put some circle looking beads on it and coated everything with embossing powder both clear and one with a sparkle to it till I securely imbedded the beads. I don't think this is my favorite one of all time; it seems funny that circles would be such a challenge.

April BJP Done

Whoo hoo! Another page done! This is a biggie as it means I can now get pics of the ones I have done on the web page for the BJP. You have to have eight pieces done before doing that and that's where I am. Yay. I am two-thirds through the year with this one completed.

April's page is on blue-violet of the color wheel which fit nicely with the usual Easter month. I ran into trouble finding gifted beads this month but found some seed beads my sister had sent me from Japan. They are the shiny ones in the vertical striping. Since April is the typical Easter month, I used a cross that is actually a purple if it is held up to light. It doesn't look it on the beadwork but if you compared it to black or another color you would see it. I added the butterflies as they are also a symbol of spring and new life. There are three for the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Hmm, it doesn't hurt that 3 is a good number in design either). This is a simple piece but I like it.

Now on to May. I'm having a tough time thinking of what I want to say with this one. It will be blue and that's as far as I've gotten. Stay tuned....

Inchies

We had a guest designer over at Inchybyinch this week. Joanne gave us the theme of text. Well, that just brought my playful side out. I texted a message on my cell phone and took a pic of it. That became the basis of my inchy. This was fun.

An Award

Cheryl of Scrappy Cat blog has given me a Karma Friends award. The only trouble is I don't know who to give the award to. Some of the blogs I go to have posted they are award free. Too many people are afraid of offending someone if they give them the award or if they don't give them the award so personally, I've ended up not passing them forward.

The wording for this award is as follows:The Karma Award: These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kinds of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award. So here are the blogs I would like to award; some of them I've been reading for awhile, and some are new to me that I've found when they left comments on my blog. So it's really true - blogging leads to friendship.
As you can see, I didn't follow instructions. I really think all the people who come to my blog deserve this one. Yes, each and every one of you. I really don't get that many visitors and I truly appreciate all who do. Thankyou very much Cheryl for the award and everyone who reads my blog.

I'm a Winner!

A little while ago (time seems to have lost it's meaning lately - it's just go, going, gone) I won a giveaway on Lisa's blog Pursuing Art...Life and Dreams and then time got away from me and I didn't post it when it came in the mail. Now Lisa has written asking if I got it. I didn't realize it'd been THAT long but it has. I am so sorry Lisa. I usually make a post (usually only a little late) and then let the person know I got it and share the post link. I am sooo sorry. It was totally rude of me. Lisa gave me some wonderful stuff too. I thought I'd just won the doll and face but she sent me vintage and other beads and everything came tied up so
I could use the packaging in future projects.

Lisa is the type who remembers little details such as a poppy I'd asked if I could draw from her blog months ago. She sent me the photo of it. And no Lisa, I haven't done that yet either. No more classes for me for a while. I evidently need a breather to clear my head so I stop forgetting so much.

March BJP Finished

At last! I have finished anothr of these tiny little pieces. Remember, they are only half the size of an ATC! They should not be taking me so long. This one could have been done a little sooner but the thread on my edge kept breaking but that would only have saved me a couple of days working on it. I've just simply been doing too many other things. Robin, when you started the BJP I had no idea what was out there in cyber world and didn't know I'd be tempted as badly as Pandora to open the lid to everything!

This piece is my purple page. It has flowers I got when I traded an ATC months and months ago with Julie at Mixed Media. Thankyou so much Julie as these flowers are what gave me the idea to use gifted items this year - yours and Grace's beads she sent me. I wanted to use them and what better way than this. The frog bead was a gift from my grandkids. I wondered just how I'd manage to use this bead and I like it here. The leaves that make up the shamrock (St. Patrick's Day tribute) were mine but the pearls that hold them down are from my mother's wedding pearls. They arent' real but they have more worth to me than real ones since they are from my mother. The theme here if you haven't guessed is Spring.

Well, it's on to April now. That means Easter to me and blue violet for my color choice. Hmmm, what can I find that has been gifted and fits that theme...... or will I need to change something here. Well, stay tuned (hopefully not for as long as this one took) and you'll see.

Weekly Inchy

The theme for this week's inchy from Inchybyinch is shoes. Well I rummaged around for a stamp but didn't have one and figured I might go cut a shoe out of a magazine when I remembered I'd bought this button a while ago. I thought it fit the theme pretty darn well. The only trouble with 3-D inchies like this is I can't put them in my journal but maybe this one will go on my fridge as a magnet.

Inchy Swap

Recently I joined in with an inchy swap. The theme was houses. Only a few of us swapped but I got some enjoyable inchies that will be going into my journal soon. I've found that is a good way to store swap inchies and enjoy them again and again. The swap was arranged by Fiona of Inchybyinch blog. I'm a little behind on sharing them as I was away visiting with my daughter's family when they arrived.
