Teesha Moore Style

I've made a new page in my journal to fit a prompt over
at Blissfully Art Journaling a yahoo group I am in. I'd started a page to emulate Teesha Moore's style which I saw just recently. She has videos on her blog to show how she makes her pages and it sounded like so much fun I just had to try one! You can find her videos here and here. Look around as there are lots of videos taking you through the whole page.

My page follows a prompt as to whether we like to wear hats or not. I've had a few but the wind takes them away from me. I had one taken by the wind when I was in a gondola at the San Diego City Zoo. There was no way I was going to jump out in midair to try and catch it! Another time, I wore one to Sea World and away it went again! Now if I need a hat to block our extreme Arizona sun I wear a baseball style hat which doesn't look nice but I can make it small enough to stay on!

The "hat" on this page is a sculpture by Jennifer Maestre that I cut from a magazine. It looked perfect for a hat. I added a little make-up with Pan Pastels and some jewelry with a Sharpie Poster Paint Pen. This was lots of fun and I'll have to try Teesha's techniques again. Maybe in a different journal where the spiral binding won't interfere!

Photo Thursday

The theme for this week at Photo Thursday is "YOUTH" (Young, Energetic, Optimistic, Children, Baby, Education,...). I couldn't just upload one. Energetic describes both of these grandkids. These photos were taken a few years ago. My grandson is now on his high school cross country team where running 6 miles a day up hills and down is his norm. My granddaughter still sparkles as you could tell in her recent picture of a few weeks ago here. Why don't you join us and tell a story in a picture?

Bread

The theme for Photo Thursday is ""FOOD" (Fruit, Vegetables, Cookies, Candy, Meals, Food for Animals, Feast, Hungry,...)". I am posting a picture of bread I made with my granddaughter. This is just before we removed it from the oven. Yum!

New Journal Page

In a workshop I am in over at A.R.T., a yahoo group our lesson this week was to make a page using a page out of the book we are using Artist's Journal's and Sketchbooks by Lynn Perrella. I chose page number 26 that had a hand on it. Mine came out quite differently I think but I am glad of that really.


This has acrylic paints for the background with white butterflies embossed with clear powder. I don't know why they turned color. Anyone have an idea? Did it suck up color from the paint with the heat of the gun? I don't know. Anyhow, the rest of the page was done with Pitt pens and watercolor pencils except for a few cutouts from my own photos.

Three Inchies

The theme for inchies this week at Inchybyinch is babies.
The pictures I made these from are from my own photos.
The two pictures of the goat are from when our Mary Muffin was a baby. She's almost 8 years old now. The woman in the picture has a new baby now so it's fitting that she is in the photo. The calf is a picture I took outside our gate last week. This little guy will probably be sold off but if he is a she perhaps she'll be around with her own calf in a year or two. She'll be sporting long horns as she's one of those long-horn breeds and I mean looonng horns. I would not want to upset her when she's grown. (She/he is not ours - she's just in a free range area.

I reduced these in size and added script to them in PSElements. Then I added chalk ink to the edges.

Photo Theme for Thursday

This wasn't the photo I was planning to put here
but the theme for this week is: "SIMPLE" (Minimalist, Simple Things, Simple Composition, Pure,...). What could be simpler than enjoying life as it is. I think my dog shows life is simple - just enjoy it.

(She thought a lizard had gone under this log but the lizard was long gone)!

Photo Theme for Thursday

This week's theme for Photo Thursday (don't remind me it's already Friday - it's just been that kind of week) is "BEAUTY" (Sunset, Nature, People, Houses, Eyes,...). I had lots of choices but decided on a pic of one of my granddaughters. She just naturally takes great pictures - I guess she is just a natural beauty.

It's too bad I am not a great photographer but I am taking lessons and getting much better. I am taking lessons through Jessica at Cre8it.com . The classes are online. Check them out.

Quotation Journal Page

I liked this quote I saw on the yahoo group Blissfully Art Journaling and decided to put it in my journal. I had already prepared the page with paint in a class I took over at the yahoo group A.R.T. so I just had to add the writing. Can you tell I like yahoo groups?

Inchy

I am determined not to be the last to post an inchy this time! The theme is time. It was chosen by our guest designer Ali Manning whom you can find here.

I didn't realize how messy my handwriting was nor how smeary the stamping was until I saw the enlarged picture. I guess I'd better stick to typing something if I want it to look nice. I don't understand the stamp being so blurry though. I promise I'll try to do better next week.

New Journal

I made a new journal for a workshop I am taking over at a yahoo group called A.R.T. I made it with a bisquick box for the cover. Why a bisquick box? Because I like to bake and more, I liked the colors! I used grosgrain ribbon for the spine so it'd be firm enough for sewing the signatures into but that created a small problem in that the book doesn't stay firmly closed. It works fine; it just doesn't stay shut on it's own but stays open about 1/2 inch. Maybe time will help.

I made four signatures using heavy weight drawing paper as the guide for the size of the book and other pages. The paper was 9x12" so I just folded it in half. I added some MiTientes pages, watercolor and a floral petal paper. I encased each signature in a smaller paper that matched the cover colors and then sewed them into the spine with red pearl cotton. I am happy with it and can't wait to start using it.

Under the Wire

I'm getting this in the last day before a new inchy theme is announced. I've been so bad about getting these little things done lately but here it is for this week. The theme is rain. I live in the desert where we don't get a lot of it so I used that for my inchy. Remember you can always join in by going here.

Photo Thursday

The theme for this week is: "GOLDEN" (Gold-colored, Gold Plated, Yellow, Sun Flowers, Jewellery, Blonde, First-rate, Special. Here is my choice. This is a wild flower blooming after the one and only rain we had all summer. I love yellow with blue.

Journal Page

I made a new page in my journal celebrating sea glass. Have you ever found any? One beach by my sister's seems to get quite a bit. (The beach is in Oxnard, CA). Several years ago I would walk the beach with her as she walked off the hurt of her husband of 18 years leaving her. I found mostly brown (guess there are lots of brown bottle beer drinkers), some green and on a rare occasion a bit of blue. I also found some white but that wasn't very exciting. So I made an ocean page with some sea glass on it. I really intended to make the sea glass more dominant but it works this way as you have to look for the sea glass just as in real life! Hint: if you click on the page it will enlarge and you can see it easier.

The picture was made with Pan Pastels mostly. I added a bit of sharpie poster pen and white gel pen for the foam, waves and birds (I wish the birds showed up better too). A touch of colored pencil for shading and Pitt Pen for writing.

Photo Thursday

This week's theme is: "ART" (Paintings, Drawings, Murals, Graffiti, Crafts, Brushes, Pens, Pencils,...) so I am posting a mural my daughter painted on her daughter's wall. Three walls were painted with part of it being the ocean. The fourth wall was part of the grass hut my daughter made with a bamboo curtain. The whole room fit the tropical island theme including the cat post!
