J Inchy

This week's inchy is the letter J. I went to bed one night and an idea of what to do came to mind but I didn't get up and jot it down so by morning my wonderful idea using J in multiple ways was gone. This is my second idea and probably just as good as my original idea (unless that idea comes back to mind I'll never know)! This is Pitt pen and watercolor. I can see doing watercolor might be best done with a finer brush now that I see the one inch square blown up so large. Ah well it is what it is....
...which is
Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown
and Jill came tumbling after.
You all remember that rhyme don't you? And do you remember lots of rhymes without having to look at a book?

The Letter I

Hi everyone. This week's inchy is for the letter I. I goofed and started my writing at the bottom of the inchy. Oh well, I'm sure many of you will understand my nostalgia wherever I started the writing.

H is For

This week's inchy is for the letter H.
I made mine with a simple little heart
stamp and then some writing. The background is my blotter paper I keep on my art table for wiping brushes and stamps or for testing things on. I cut it up for use as inchy backgrounds.

You can join in making an inchy of your own. If you do, post it for all to see at Inchybyinch.

Another Inchy!

I've finally done another inchy! This is for the letter G and the last one I did was for the letter A so I have some catching up to do. I've been visiting family in California and taking too many classes. Some of the classes are ending so that may help me catch up on these inchies and other projects that have gotten behind - like the Bead Journal Project. Boy oh boy am I behind on that! Anyhow, G is for green and goats. This is a cutout of two baby goats (kids) of which we still have the one with the red collar. Her name is Mary Muffin as her dad was Stud Muffin.

Inchies are Back

The Inchybyinch blog has started up again. This
year we are going to work our way through the alphabet. So this week it's A for Alphabet!

Inchy again

This is the last inchy for the year. The theme for this week at inchybyinch is "your favorite Christmas carol". I first heard Silver Bells when I was in my grade school glee club. I loved it. So this is my inchy with my favorite song of grade school.
They didn't have try-outs when I joined but they did when my sister tried to join two years later. I have always wondered if they heard me sing and decided to not let someone with a voice like mine join again! Yes, I am that bad. That's why I sing with my art and crafts instead.

Inchy

The theme at Inchybyinch this week is Yule. Not Christmas but a holiday celebrated by pre-Christian peoples. It conveniently transferred over as Christianity took hold. So I have a background of evergreens with a pine cone on top.

Two Inchies

The theme for this week was presents over at
Inchybyinch.

I ended up making two inchies for a change.
Mainly because the first one with the embossing
powder seemed too simple. With the static electricity we have right now I couldn't keep the particles from flying all over the piece either which I could see once it was enlarged.

So I made a second one. This one is a little bit
3-D with the tissue paper sticking out of the box. It was hard finding something small enough to put in this tiny package!

As an aside, I just signed up for the 2010 Bead Journal Project. If anyone loves to do bead embroidery and would like to join us in doing one piece (or page) a month for a year go to Bead Journal Project and check it out. The deadline to sign up is rapidly approaching - December 14th is the last day so hurry!

New Inchy

The theme for this week's inchy over at Inchybyinch is texture. The guest designer who suggested this and made samples for it is Jaine who has the blog Confessions of a Craftaholic here. This is my textured inchy. I figure burlap is a very textured material. (When I was little my mother made all five of us girls gathered skirts in colored panels of burlap. They were fun to wear).
Go ahead make a wish!

Three Inchies

The theme for inchies this week at Inchybyinch is babies.
The pictures I made these from are from my own photos.
The two pictures of the goat are from when our Mary Muffin was a baby. She's almost 8 years old now. The woman in the picture has a new baby now so it's fitting that she is in the photo. The calf is a picture I took outside our gate last week. This little guy will probably be sold off but if he is a she perhaps she'll be around with her own calf in a year or two. She'll be sporting long horns as she's one of those long-horn breeds and I mean looonng horns. I would not want to upset her when she's grown. (She/he is not ours - she's just in a free range area.

I reduced these in size and added script to them in PSElements. Then I added chalk ink to the edges.

Inchy

I am determined not to be the last to post an inchy this time! The theme is time. It was chosen by our guest designer Ali Manning whom you can find here.

I didn't realize how messy my handwriting was nor how smeary the stamping was until I saw the enlarged picture. I guess I'd better stick to typing something if I want it to look nice. I don't understand the stamp being so blurry though. I promise I'll try to do better next week.

Under the Wire

I'm getting this in the last day before a new inchy theme is announced. I've been so bad about getting these little things done lately but here it is for this week. The theme is rain. I live in the desert where we don't get a lot of it so I used that for my inchy. Remember you can always join in by going here.

Inchy

I got my inchie done early this week! The theme from InchybyInch this week is leaves. I looked through my stamps but didn't find anything to fit so I decided to do a leaftangle. It sure looks better when it's just one inch rather than blown up like here.

Back to My Inchies

Over at Inchy by Inch this week the theme is "asia" so I took a stamp from Japan and cut it to fit and collaged on the part that was trimmed off. I added a little fuschia color to the edges and voila! I haven't done any for a few weeks; this ended up being almost instant gratification. Hey, if you need a quick project just try one yourself.

Another Inchy?

Yes, another inchy. It seems I am not being too creative lately but really that's not the case. I just finished a spoon rack I've had sitting here since November. The end of November but yes, it's been a long time coming. I think it turned out great though. The pictures show the before and after. What do you think? Originally, this rack was my mother's. After she died and my dad redid the house I painted it for him. Now it's mine and it was time for another update.

Now for my inchy. The theme for this week and last is trees. I was visiting family last week so I am glad it was a two-week time span for this one. This was suggested by Karen known as Missy K and her blog can be seen here . This is for the group you can find here at Inchybyinch. I drew the tree with markers and added some text. Come and join us. We can always use some new inchy artists.

Last Inchy for July

Can you believe we are heading into August already? It's hot and I'd like some cooler autumn weather but I'l be 100 years old by the end of the year if time keeps going by this fast!

The theme on Inchybyinch blog this week is men. I don't have any stamps to use and didn't feel up to drawing one. I guess I could have reduced a photo to fit but what came to me is the man in the moon. And also, why is it we say we see a MAN in the moon? Why not a woman? Is it just easier to say man in the moon versus woman in the moon? Did you know the Japanese see a rabbit pounding sweet rice to a pulp instead of a man? Anyhow here is my offering.

Weekly Inchy

The theme for this week's inchy is circles. Fiona of Inchybyinch used circles as the base for her inchy and I tried that but it didn't work for me so I went back to the square inch and stamped some circle designs. Then I put some circle looking beads on it and coated everything with embossing powder both clear and one with a sparkle to it till I securely imbedded the beads. I don't think this is my favorite one of all time; it seems funny that circles would be such a challenge.

Inchies

We had a guest designer over at Inchybyinch this week. Joanne gave us the theme of text. Well, that just brought my playful side out. I texted a message on my cell phone and took a pic of it. That became the basis of my inchy. This was fun.

Weekly Inchy

The theme for this week's inchy from Inchybyinch is shoes. Well I rummaged around for a stamp but didn't have one and figured I might go cut a shoe out of a magazine when I remembered I'd bought this button a while ago. I thought it fit the theme pretty darn well. The only trouble with 3-D inchies like this is I can't put them in my journal but maybe this one will go on my fridge as a magnet.

Inchy Swap

Recently I joined in with an inchy swap. The theme was houses. Only a few of us swapped but I got some enjoyable inchies that will be going into my journal soon. I've found that is a good way to store swap inchies and enjoy them again and again. The swap was arranged by Fiona of Inchybyinch blog. I'm a little behind on sharing them as I was away visiting with my daughter's family when they arrived.
